Nerdy Meeple Association
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to combating loneliness and isolation through social gaming and community activities since 2023
Why We Do What We Do
The Problem: Loneliness, isolation, depression, mental illness.
The Solution: Social activities, board games, and tabletop games.
The Audience: Ages 13+ through senior adults (intergenerational).
The Goal: Connection, belonging, and mental wellness.
What we do: We create a vibrant, inclusive space where connection is the primary goal. By using tabletop games, role-playing adventures (like D&D), and social activities, we turn simple hobbies into tools for building community. Our programs are designed to break the ice and provide a structured way for people to interact, share stories, and experience joy together in person.
Who we help: Our community is truly intergenerational, focusing on three key groups often hit hardest by isolation:
Teens: Providing a safe, offline space to build social skills and find belonging away from digital pressures.
Adults: Offering a consistent social outlet to balance the stresses of work and life.
Seniors: Combatting the high rates of social isolation that often lead to cognitive decline and physical health risks.
"Our mission is to create a supportive community to battle the epidemic of loneliness and isolation while improving mental health struggles by fostering meaningful connections, community, and joy through tabletop, role-playing, social games, and activities that unite teens, adults, and seniors."
Why it matters: Loneliness isn't just a feeling—it is a public health crisis. Chronic isolation increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, anxiety, and depression. By fostering "meaningful connections," we provide a "social cure" that improves cognitive function, boosts mental health, and gives individuals a sense of purpose and belonging. Teenagers are less likely to use drugs and alcohol if they are part of a supportive, positive community, and studies show that strategic games improve students' test scores. When people play together, they aren't just trying to win games; they are building a support network that makes the entire community more resilient.
How to support: You can help us bridge the generational gap and fight the loneliness epidemic in several ways:
Donate: Contributions go directly toward acquiring games, securing a community space, and funding programs for low-income participants.
Volunteer: We need "Game Masters" and social facilitators to lead activities and ensure everyone feels welcome and included.
Spread the Word: Connect us with local senior centers, schools, or mental health organizations that could benefit from our programming.
Join a Game: Simply showing up and participating helps build the "critical mass" needed for a thriving community.
Our Story
The Nerdy Meeple Story: From Isolation to Connection
In October 2023, Nerdy Meeple was born out of a quiet but urgent necessity. While the world had technically "reopened" after the COVID-19 pandemic, the landscape of our community had changed. Years of isolation had wrecked havoc on our local social fabric—forcing people inside, dismantling established social circles, and leaving many of our neighbors struggling with a lingering epidemic of loneliness.
We saw a city that was physically close but socially distant. We knew that to heal, we didn't just need to be in the same room again; we needed a reason to talk, to laugh, and to play.
We started with a vision and a 3,000-square-foot space, hoping to provide a sanctuary for those looking to reconnect. The response was overwhelming. Within just one year, it became clear that the hunger for meaningful, in-person connection was even greater than we imagined. We were bursting at the seams, outgrowing our original home almost as fast as we could open the doors.
To meet the demand, we expanded into the unit next door, adding another 3,500 square feet to create a 6,500-square-foot community hub dedicated to the power of play.
Today, Nerdy Meeple serves over 400 individuals every single week. From teens finding their footing in social RPGs to seniors rediscovering the joy of strategy games, we are more than just a gaming center—we are a living room for the community. As we continue to grow, our mission remains the same: to battle isolation and foster mental well-being by ensuring that no one has to play the game of life alone.

Help us fight loneliness and Isolation by giving towards our 2026 operations costs!
There are two powerful ways you can help:
Become a monthly partner and give the steady support that keeps programs running and people connected all year long.
Or make a one-time gift that accelerates us towards being fully funded in 2026 - so we can continue to provide a place designed so fewer people in Ardmore ever have to feel alone.
Both matter. Both change lives. Which one feels right for you today?

Loneliness is one of the most widespread and under-addressed challenges of our time. It touches teenagers looking for their people, adults seeking connection beyond work and home, and seniors who want regular reasons to leave the house.
Ardmore already understands the value of community recreation — the local YMCA serves more than 6,500 members. That success proves people here will invest in places that deliver belonging. Nerdy Meeple is the complementary invitation: a place centered on play, creativity, and genuine human connection in an alcohol-free, smoke-free environment.
Your support does more than construct walls and a roof. It:
Creates 25–40 local jobs with real paychecks circulating in the Ardmore economy
Gives thousands of people a standing invitation to belong
Builds a lasting community asset that will serve generations
Turns isolation into shared laughter on a skate rink, around a game table, or under stage lights
We are raising $10 million to make this vision real — land, 36,000 SQ FT building, specialty floors for skating and dancing, kitchen for an at cost restaurant, classrooms, seating, outdoor gathering spaces, and the contingency needed to finish strong.
Every gift, whether a major naming opportunity or a heartfelt contribution of any size, moves us closer to the day the doors open and fewer people in our community have to sit alone.
